Day 1: Home
City - Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai, China's commercial capital.
Day 2: Arrive Shanghai
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to
the Lexington Plaza or similar 4-star. Enjoy the rest of the day
at leisure.
Day 3: Shanghai (B/L)
Start the day to the sights and sounds of this unique and modern
city of Shanghai. Visit the Bund, known as the “Wall Street”
of the former foreign powers, where during the first half of 20th
century the European powers controlled the Chinese economy. Then
visit the majestic Yu Yuan Garden, built in 1577 and recently
restored to its original splendor. Other visits include Nanjing
Pedestrian Street and Xintiandi, a shopping and entertainment
district composed of an area of restored traditional shikumen
("stone gate") houses on narrow alleys.
Day 4: Shanghai (B)
Free day to explore the Shanghai Expo on your own.
Day 5: Shanghai - Wuxi (B/L/D)
This morning, depart for Wuxi by coach. Upon arrival, visit the
Taihu Lake Scenic Area and the Huishan Clay Sculpture Factory.
Stay one night at the Ramada Wuxi Hotel or similar 4-star.
Day 6: Wuxi - Suzhou (B/L/D)
After breakfast, drive towards Suzhou, a city renowned for its
stone bridges, canals and meticulously designed gardens. Visit
the Master of Nets Garden, one of the finest in China. Afterwards,
visit a Silk Factory. Watch the process of how a silk blanket
is made. In the evening visit Li Gong Di, an entertainment area
built along Jin Ji Lake, located at the Suzhou Industrial Park.
Overnight at the Gloria Plaza or similar 4-star.
Day 7: Suzhou - Shanghai - Home City (B/D)
Head to the Shanghai airport for your return flight home OR continue
fly to Chongqing. Upon arrival at Chongqing airport, you will
be met and transferred to board the Orient Royal Cruise - East
King - standard cabin for your Yangtze River cruise. Dinner will
be onboard the ship.
Day 8: Yangzte River Cruise (B/L/D)
The appeal of the Yangtze lies not only in the river’s great
natural beauty, but also in the cultural and historical ties,
which link nearby communities with the life-giving waters. Shibaozhai
is the first port, and home to a famous Chinese Pagoda.
Day 9: Yangtze River Cruise (B/L/D)
This morning the cruise takes you to the legendary Three Gorges,
which has inspired Chinese poetry and paintings for centuries.
Pass through the Qutang Gorge, just 8 km. long, the most spectacular
of the three, with cliffs rising from the water’s edge to
heights of over 1,000 m. Continue past the Wu Gorge with its 12
towering peaks and enter Xiling Gorge, the longest of the three.
Arrive at Badong and disembark for the Shennon Stream sampan and
ferry tour. See hanging coffins, natural scenery and hear Tuja
Songs. During early evening, enter the Three Gorges Dam 5-stage
Shiplocks, the largest hydroelectric project in the world. The
entire process takes at least 3 hours.
Day 10: Yangtze River Cruise - Yichang -
Shanghai (B)
This morning, visit the Three Gorges Dam Project. the largest
hydroelectric project in the world. Disembark at Yichang, where
your guide will meet you at the pier and transfer you to the airport
for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you will be met and
escorted to Lexington Plaza or similar 4-star for one night.
Day 11: Shanghai - Home City (B)
Head to the airport for your flight home
