Tour Leader: Andy Lou, who is a Beijing native and a well-known
painter in both Chinese and western styles. His well-established
relationships in the Chinese art community will open doors into
many art galleries and artists’ studios.
This tour is designed for first-time visitors
as well as former visitors to China.
Our group will stay in 4-Star Hotels, enjoy many excellent meals
and cultural events to make the trip a unique experience.
China Tour 2008 highlights include magnificent Yellow Mountain,
Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hong Cun and Wuzhen: typical water villages
in south of China. Another highlight will be a visit to a paper
mill in Jing Xian, the place of the invention of original rice
paper. We will also meet local Chinese artists and visit their
studios.
Yellow Mountain
– China's most scenic mountain, a Natural & Cultural World
Heritage site. Its four treasures include Yellow Mt Pines, cascading
waterfalls, quaint rock formations, and hot springs. We will take
a cable car to the North Peak, stay overnight and then climb to
the summit (1860 M) where the view of sunrise is breathtaking.
Jing Xian –
the hometown of the famous Xun paper (Chinese rice paper). We
will visit the paper mill and learn how the Chinese Rice Paper
is made.
Hong Cun –
a water village located at southwestern of the Yellow Mt. It is
built in the shape of an ox, a World Heritage site, it features
137 Ming and Qing style residences. Its Chengzhi Hall (1855) has
beautiful wood carvings on the beams and columns. Hong Cun was
also the screen setting for the famous film “Crouching Tiger
Hidden Dragon”.
Hangzhou –
one of the seven ancient Chinese capitals, with over 2200 years
in history. It is famous for its historical and cultural heritages
and is known as “Heaven On Earth”. We will enjoy a
boat ride on the beautiful West Lake, sip a cup of Dragon Well
tea at the Running Tiger Spring, visit China Silk Museum and the
ancient temple of Soul's Retreat.
WuZhen –
where we cross over the Fengyuan Double Bridge (the most fascinating
of the town's 11 stone-crafted bridges) in this tranquil water
village. When we view ancient docks, waterside pavilions and corridors
stretching for miles, it will feel like travelling back in time.
In addition, we will visit a Wood Carving Museum and the Flower-printed
Blue Cloth Workshop to see how hand spun cloth are made.
Shanghai –
we will visit the Yuyuan Garden (a famous classical garden in
South China), the Shanghai Museum (one of the best museums in
China, famous for its collection of over 120, 000 pieces of bronzes,
ceramics, paintings and calligraphy); and The Bund: home to a
myriad of European-styled buildings that face the Huangpu River.
Architectural styles include gothic, baroque, romanesque, and
renaissance. We will have a night cruise on the Huangpu River
to fully enjoy its glamour. Shanghai has two international airports,
and the fastest maglev train in the world. We will take the maglev
train to the Pudong airport (7 minutes ride from the exit of Long
Yang metro station). This train can reach a speed of 437km per
hour. It will be a great experience!
